The content calendar template that teams actually keep using
Content calendar
Team workflow
The content calendar you Notion'd on a Sunday looks great on Monday and abandoned by Friday. The reason isn't discipline. It's that the template has too many columns, no clear owner per row, and no automated trigger for what "published" means.
The four columns you actually need
Strip your calendar down to these. Everything else is decoration.
- Publish date + time (with timezone)
- Channel (Instagram feed, IG Reel, IG Story, X post, X thread)
- Status (draft → review → scheduled → published → failed)
- Owner (single person, not a team)
The trigger that makes it stick
A calendar without automated publishing is a to-do list. What makes teams keep using the calendar is that scheduling a row automatically posts it. That's the difference between planning software and publishing software.
