Thread

A thread is a sequence of connected X posts by the same author, each replying to the previous one.

Definition

Threads are X's long-form unit. The first post carries the hook and is the one that's shared. Each subsequent post replies to the previous and delivers one idea at a time.

How to use it

5–8 posts is the sweet spot in 2026. Post 1: hook (180–260 chars). Middle posts: 200–280 chars each. Final post: summary or CTA. Never write "a thread 🧵" — the algorithm downweights it.

Common mistakes

  • Emoji 🧵 in post 1
  • Threads over 12 posts — completion collapses
  • Link in post 1 (put it in the reply chain instead)
