Feed post

A feed post is an image, carousel or video that lives permanently in the Instagram profile grid.

Definition

A feed post is the classic Instagram post that appears in a follower's main feed and becomes a permanent tile on your profile. Unlike Stories, feed posts do not disappear after 24 hours.

How to use it

Use feed posts for content you want new visitors to see when they land on your profile — products, customer stories, milestones, evergreen guides. Portrait 4:5 gives the largest surface area.

Common mistakes

  • Posting square when portrait 4:5 gives 25% more screen area
  • Skipping alt text — hurts both accessibility and SEO
  • Writing the entire caption as one text wall with no line breaks
